Dreams become numbers
Stamp / Acrylic Colour / Paper Shredder / Paper Applications / Speakers
Dreams Become Numbers is a sculptural sound installation that explores the dreams and aspirations of individuals whose lives are constrained or obstructed by bureaucratic systems.
The installation consists of several interconnected objects that collectively form a narrative. Human hopes and desires are represented by shredded forms and applications, accumulated in a growing pile. On a nearby wall, a stamped collage refers to the origins of these dreams and aspirations.
The repetitive acts of stamping the wall and destroying documents with multiple paper shredders are recorded using audio equipment. These recordings become an integral part of the musical composition.
From the opening of the exhibition onwards, the resulting sound composition was continuously played within the exhibition space, transforming the bureaucratic processes of approval, rejection, and destruction into an immersive sonic environment.
